May Mahatma Gandhi’s message of brotherhood spread further in the world: Dinesh Trivedi

Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi said, Mahatma Gandhi was a dove of peace for all people, all religions. His message of non-violence is still moving in favor of peace today. With violence increasing around the world, Mahatma Gandhi's message of non-violence and brotherhood is more relevant and more urgent today. May his message spread more and more in the world. 

He made these remarks in a speech at the Indian High Commission on Friday night (October 2) to mark the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the advocate of non-violent movement, and former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.   

Dinesh said, when it comes to talking about Mahatma Gandhi, it cannot be said enough. It is really difficult to find such a clear, complete person like him in the world. Mahatma Gandhi believed that as many opinions, so many paths. We try to follow the path shown by him every day, every time. His life was very ordinary, but he was an extraordinary person. Mahatma Gandhi is intertwined with our lives. If we can apply his thoughts and ideas in our lifestyle, we will be able to go far ahead.

Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi also said that former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri had given the slogan 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan'. He has associated 'Jai Vigyan, Jai Anandhaan' with the current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

Highlighting the importance of Mahatma Gandhi's message of non-violence, the Indian High Commissioner said that at a time when violence is increasing in the world, Gandhiji's teachings of non-violence and brotherhood have become even more relevant.

He said that even after all these years, Mahatma Gandhi remains a figure of love and respect to the people of the world, because his message for humanity will always remain relevant.

After the discussion, a cultural program and fashion show were organized to celebrate his birthday. 

Meanwhile, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and the Assistant High Commissions in Chittagong, Khulna, Sylhet and Rajshahi have organised various programmes to mark the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka organised a poster making and quiz competition for students aged 18 to 26. 

A special cleanliness drive was conducted at Patenga Beach at the initiative of the Assistant High Commission in Chittagong. In addition, this special day was observed through various service and awareness activities in a nationwide program.
