Just four days ago, he suddenly felt that he would see the house of Allah with his own eyes. Out of that desire, he quickly made all the preparations and set off on the journey to the holy Mecca with his son. Finally, he saw the much-desired Kaaba Sharif, but there was no going back.
Haji Abdul Latif, also known as 'Bao', from Faisalabad, Pakistan, collapsed in the lap of death while looking at the holy Kaaba and reciting 'Allahu Akbar' and Istighfar.
This heartbreaking incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday (August 12) at Masjidul Haram.
Abdul Latif was a resident of Lal Mills Chowk in Lyallpur Colony, Faisalabad. He was involved in the business of supplying books to private schools.
All preparations in four days
According to family sources, Abdul Latif suddenly expressed his desire to perform Umrah just four days before his death. Then, he quickly submitted his passport for an Umrah visa along with his son Arsalan.
On August 11, the father and son left for Saudi Arabia on a FlyDubai flight from Faisalabad Airport. After a delay of about two hours, the plane reached Jeddah at night. From there, they set off for Mecca.
Abdul Latif was repeatedly checking the time on the way from Jeddah to Mecca. He was also requesting the driver to reach Mecca as soon as possible. He was telling his son Arsalan, "My health is completely fine. I just want to see the House of Allah as soon as possible."
No rest, he ran towards the Haram
They reached the hotel in Mecca during Tahajjud on Wednesday morning. Although Abdul Latif was tired from the long journey, he did not agree to rest. Instead, he became anxious to quickly go to the Masjid al-Haram with his son.
According to Arsalan, after reaching the Haram Sharif, the father's restlessness increased. He was reciting the Kalima and Istighfar loudly. His body was drenched in sweat. As if his heart was anxious for the moment to fulfill that long-cherished desire.
The journey of life stopped upon seeing the Kaaba
Finally, upon reaching the destination, Abdul Latif saw the holy Kaaba Sharif in front of his own eyes for the first time. He became emotional while looking at the Kaaba. He still had 'Allahu Akbar' and Istighfar on his lips.
At one point, he sat down. After a while, he suddenly fell ill and lost consciousness.
The security personnel and medical personnel at the scene quickly rushed to him. Immediate medical and rescue efforts began. But in the end, his death was confirmed.
His journey of life ended in front of the Kaaba, the very place where the desire to see it had brought him out of his house four days earlier.
He did not have the opportunity to return home after performing Umrah. However, Abdul Latif ended his journey of life by fulfilling his last wish—to see the Kaaba Sharif, the house of Allah, with his own eyes.
