The police have arrested the father of a 20-year-old girl on charges of raping and impregnating her. The victim, a young woman, is hearing and speech-impaired. He was arrested after a DNA test found a genetic match with the father's fetus. A total of 17 people were tested for DNA to identify those involved in the incident. The sensational incident took place in the Coffey Parade area of ​​Mumbai in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

According to Indian media NDTV, the police had earlier arrested another adult and a 17-year-old teenager in this incident, which began in September last year. The girl herself had informed them of the rape through gestures. Police said that whether anyone else was involved in the incident or not is still under investigation.

Police said that DNA samples of a total of 17 suspects were collected and tested. The results of laboratory tests showed that the fetus's DNA matched only one of them. And he is the father of the victim.

The Indian media outlet says that this sensational incident came to light in September last year. At that time, the victim told her grandmother about stomach discomfort. Through gestures, she said that she felt like an 'insect was moving' in her stomach. After that, she was admitted to the Cama and Albless Hospital in Mumbai. Medical tests revealed that she was five months pregnant at the time. The hospital authorities immediately informed the police about the matter.

Police said that initially, there was a major problem in communication during the investigation. The investigation was complicated due to the girl's inability to speak and her initial reluctance to speak. The police then spoke to her father. He denied any sexual abuse of the girl and could not explain how the girl became pregnant. He also refused to file a complaint in the incident.

Later, the girl agreed to file a complaint through counseling. Based on the information she provided, the police arrested and detained a man and a teenager. Later, blood and DNA samples of 17 suspects, including the father, were collected and compared with the genetic information of the fetus. The report, published on January 27 this year, showed that the DNA matched only one. And he is the father of the young woman.

Police said that the rape incident is believed to have occurred sometime between March and September 21 last year. A case was filed in this incident on September 22. The investigation is still ongoing.
