Iran rejects US ceasefire proposal

The United States has offered Iran a new ceasefire. Washington made this offer after almost two weeks of conflict. Tehran rejected the offer made through Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi. The New York Times reported this information on Friday.

The US media reported this at a time when the number of attacks on both sides is gradually increasing. US forces attacked six provinces of Iran overnight on Thursday. They attacked for the 13th consecutive night. At least six people were killed in the latest attack, most of whom were residents of Khuzestan province. In response, Iran attacked US allies Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain and Iraq.

Although Iran and the United States continue to attack, neither country wants a full-scale war now. Despite the recent attacks, they are continuing to try to find a diplomatic solution through mediators.

In this situation, the New York Times, citing Iranian and Iraqi officials familiar with the US ceasefire proposal, said that al-Zaidi had recently traveled to Tehran with the proposal after meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.

The report said that the details of the proposal were not known. However, Iranian officials described it as the only proposal made so far. They said that Tehran rejected it. Because the proposal did not solve the problem of controlling the Strait of Hormuz.

The New York Times said that it was not possible to independently confirm the matter with Iranian authorities.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a drone attack on a large ammunition warehouse at the Ali Al Salem airbase in Kuwait in protest of the attacks on six Iranian provinces. In addition, they attacked US bases in Jordan and Qatar.

The IRGC claimed that the attack, which was the 27th phase of ‘Operation Nasr-2’, completely destroyed the ammunition depot in multiple explosions. The hangars used to house military personnel at the base were also targeted. Six large hangars were completely destroyed, and three more were severely damaged. On the other hand, at least two people were injured in a US missile attack on the Tappeh Allah Akbar area of ​​Bandar Abbas city in Hormozgan province on Friday morning. Rescue operations are ongoing there.

The attack damaged electric poles and power lines, cutting off power supply to some areas of Bandar Abbas.

Meanwhile, a new US attack was reported on Friday morning in an area of ​​Nayen city in Isfahan province. However, no casualties were reported.

In addition, Khorramabad in Lorestan province and Khandab in Markazi province were also targeted. In response, the US base at Al-Azraq in Jordan, as well as Kuwait and Bahrain, were attacked on Friday.

Meanwhile, Trump announced that compensation for damage caused by the attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz would be paid from Iranian funds under US control and occupation. Iran expressed outrage at the incident.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that trying to pay compensation for the future by seizing another country's assets is a very dangerous precedent. Washington will pay a heavy price for this.
