Three people were killed in a shooting in Canada. The incident took place on Monday (June 22) local time in the Côte-de-Nice area of Montreal. Among the dead were a 34-year-old police officer and a civilian. In addition, the attacker himself lost his life in the incident.
Montreal police said that the shooting incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. local time on Monday at the intersection of Courtray and Trans Island Avenues. Another female police officer was seriously injured in the incident and was admitted to the hospital. However, police said that she is currently out of danger.
Police said that the attacker also died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. There is currently no threat to the public and the investigation into the incident has been handed over to Quebec's independent police oversight agency, the Bureau de journées indépendants.
However, police confirmed that the name of the civilian killed was Michael Moshe Mizrahi.
Meanwhile, the investigation has recovered a manifesto of more than 100 pages from the attacker's hotel room. It highlights the so-called 'Incel' ideology, opposition to women's liberation and various statements against the pornography industry.
The manifesto also mentions targeting various individuals, organizations and groups. Among them, major pornography industry conferences, the headquarters of international pornography companies and influential people in the porn industry are also mentioned as targets.
It is worth noting that the place where the attack took place on Monday is located near the headquarters of one of the world's largest pornography websites. The company said that they are cooperating with the police in the investigation. However, they did not comment on the shooting incident in the interests of the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, various police forces in British Columbia have been warned about a possible manifesto after this incident. It is said that it is feared that the manifesto may contain calls for violence against police.
