A US pilot has described seeing a mysterious scene before his fighter jet was shot down in the sky over Iran. He claimed to have seen multiple mysterious drones moving in the shape of 'jellyfish'. His description has sparked widespread discussion and debate in US intelligence circles. CNN reported this information in a report on Tuesday (June 23).

Citing four sources familiar with the matter, the US media reported that the pilot who was rescued after an F-15 fighter jet was shot down in Iranian airspace last April told intelligence officials in a statement that he saw multiple Iranian drones moving in a coordinated manner in the sky. The drones were arranged in such a way that the entire structure looked a lot like jellyfish.

A source familiar with the pilot's eyewitness account told CNN, "There were smaller drones hanging below the larger drones, which looked like jellyfish legs. It was incredible." Another source said, "The pilot saw a 'drone minefield' in the sky."

The investigation into how the fighter jet was shot down is still ongoing. However, initial assessments suggest that the mysterious drone group may have somehow helped Iran shoot down the US fighter jet. The downing of the F-15 fighter jet over Iran marks the first time a US fighter jet has been shot down in the ongoing conflict.

There were two people on board the plane - a pilot and a weapons systems officer. US forces launched a rescue operation shortly after the crash. The pilot was rescued within hours, but the weapons officer hid in the mountains for more than a day before being captured by Iranian forces. He was later rescued.

It is not yet clear whether the officer had seen a similar formation of drones. Another US A-10 fighter jet was also shot down during the rescue operation. However, the pilot of that plane was able to safely exit Iranian airspace.

The pilot's claim has been disputed by US intelligence agencies. Some believe he may have actually seen technology that the US was previously unaware of. Others believe it was experimental technology or that he had seen a misleading scene before the crash. During interrogation, intelligence officers repeatedly asked the pilot to confirm whether he had actually seen what he claimed to have seen.

Another reason for suspicion is that the pilot suffered a head injury in the crash. This was also the second time his fighter jet had been shot down during the Iran-Iraq war. Earlier, sources said his plane was also shot down by Kuwaiti forces in an accidental attack earlier in the conflict.

The US Air Force declined to comment, referring the matter to US Central Command (Centcom). However, Central Command did not respond directly to CNN's questions. Similarly, the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
