US President Donald Trump has said that Washington does not need a deal to get enriched uranium from Iran. He said this while talking to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday (June 5) local time.

The US president said, "We can take it now if we want. I don't think they can stop us if we want to. But there is no need for that. It is safely entombed."

Trump also said that he does not want to meet with Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

However, according to him, if there is a deal between Washington and Tehran, there is a possibility of a meeting between them. In this regard, Trump said, "If that happens, I will behave respectfully."

Trump said at a press conference the previous day that the United States wants control over Iran's highly enriched uranium stockpile.

"I want it," Trump said in response to a question from reporters in the Oval Office of the White House. He claimed that only the United States and China have the technology and capabilities to collect or remove this uranium.

"We will go and get it," Trump said.
