The United States and Israel are jointly carrying out an invasion of Iran to bring about regime change. Washington and Tel Aviv launched a massive attack on February 28, killing the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and his family.
After that, they carried out a series of assassinations, killing 1,300 Iranian citizens, as well as the country's top security official, Dr. Ali Larijani, and other senior government and military officials. US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have been repeatedly calling on the country's citizens to seize power. But these warlord leaders have been frustrated by the lack of response. This time, they are abandoning that ambitious aspiration.
Trump said on Friday (March 20) that it will take 10 years for Iran to rebuild after the joint attack with Israel. He also said that regime change is no longer the primary goal of the United States. "If we stay there much longer, they will never be able to rebuild," he said.
In an interview with MS Now, the US president said the main goal of the US operation was not regime change. "The biggest thing is that they will not be able to have nuclear weapons," Trump said. However, Trump added that Washington "maybe" could influence who controls the Iranian government, but "that is not the main thing."
Asked about Iran's nuclear weapons capability, Trump repeated previous claims that the program had been destroyed. However, he pointed to the enriched uranium buried underground, saying that there was still "nuclear dust."
Trump also sharply criticized NATO member states after they rejected his request for help in lifting the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
