US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has been "completely defeated" in the war with the US and Israel and "they want to make a deal now". However, he also said that he would not accept any such deal.
In a post on his social media account Truth Social on Friday (March 13), Trump wrote, "The fake news media does not want to report how successful the US military has been against Iran. Iran is completely defeated and now wants a deal - but I will not make that deal." However, Trump did not give any details about the deal he mentioned in the post.
Earlier, Trump said that the US had carried out a massive bombing attack on military targets on Iran's oil hub Kharg Island. At the same time, he said that the US Navy would soon escort oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Iranian officials have vowed to continue the fight, but Trump claimed that Iran has effectively been defeated in the military campaign.
It is worth noting that the dialogue between Tehran and Washington on Iran's nuclear program lasted for 21 days from February 6 to February 27. The dialogue ended on February 27 without any agreement.
The next day, on February 28, the US military launched 'Operation Epic Fury' in Iran. In line with Washington, Israel also launched a military operation 'Operation Roaring Lion' in Iran at the same time.
In response to the attack, Iran is carrying out drone attacks targeting US military bases and embassies in Israel and six countries in the Middle East Gulf region - Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman.
