The US government has ordered non-essential government employees and their family members to leave Oman due to security risks.

The US State Department said late on Friday (March 13) that “non-essential US government employees and their family members” have been asked to leave Oman.

The travel warning for Oman remains at Level 3, meaning “reconsider travel.” The reason for this is the potential risk of armed conflict and terrorism.

Meanwhile, the highest Level 4 warning, meaning “do not travel,” remains in effect for areas of Oman bordering Yemen.
