North Carolina Green Party candidate and former US Marine Brian McGinnis chanted pro-Iran slogans during a Senate hearing on Capitol Hill. The Senate candidate's arm was broken in a scuffle with police as they tried to force him out of the room.
On Wednesday (March 4), top military officials were testifying during a Senate Armed Services Subcommittee hearing. McGinnis suddenly stood up and said that Israel was responsible for the war.
After the chants, three police officers and Montana Republican Senator Tim Sheehy got into a scuffle to get McGinnis out of the room. McGinnis grabbed the door and shouted that no one wants to fight for Israel.
In the video, McGinnis' right arm was broken at one point in the scuffle. His colleagues started screaming in panic. McGinnis later admitted that he had suffered a serious injury to his left hand.
Republican Senator Sheehy wrote in a post on X that he stepped in to calm the situation. Because McGinnis had come to the Capitol intending to cause a confrontation.
Capitol Police said McGinnis had also assaulted officers and violently obstructed them. Police have charged him with assault, unlawful assembly and obstruction of justice.
