Trump sends military aircraft to Greenland

Amid the ongoing tension over Denmark's purchase of the autonomous region of Greenland, the United States has deployed military aircraft to the Pitufik Space Base on the island.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) confirmed this information in a statement. Although President Donald Trump is adamant about occupying or buying Greenland, the military has claimed that this deployment is a routine process.
Pitufik Space Base, located in northwest Greenland—formerly known as Thule Air Base. It is a very important military installation for the United States.
The base is mainly used as a missile warning system and communications center. The US and Canadian joint defense agency 'NORAD' said on social media X that the aircraft were sent there as part of regular operations to protect North America.
The agency stressed that this deployment is not the result of a sudden political decision, but is part of a long-term defense plan. NORAD claims that the military activity was coordinated with the Danish government and that Greenland authorities were also informed in advance.
However, the timing is very sensitive and has sparked speculation around the world. The Trump administration is very keen to take control of the island due to Greenland's strategic location, vast mineral resources, and the growing influence of Russia and China in the region. Earlier, the Danish and Greenland authorities had made it clear that there was no opportunity to sell Greenland.
According to diplomatic analysts, Trump's threat of tariffs and force on the one hand and the presence of military aircraft on the other have created new concerns in the international community.
Although NORAD calls it a routine exercise, this step has added a new dimension to the protection of Greenland's sovereignty and the geopolitics of the Arctic region. Denmark and Greenland are still adamant on the question of their sovereignty.
