World champions Argentina will play a friendly match in India this November international break, most likely at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The opponent has not yet been finalized, but the match is already being called a jackpot for Lionel Messi and his team.
According to The Hindu, Argentina will earn a staggering ₹130 crore (approx. Tk 181 crore in Bangladeshi currency) for just this one game.
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) had demanded full payment months in advance.
Kerala’s commercial partner, Reporters Broadcasting Company, cleared the entire payment back in December 2024.
Only now has AFA officially announced the tour.
Argentina are currently the most expensive national team when it comes to neutral-venue friendlies, and their India trip follows the same trend.
Kerala’s Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman confirmed that Messi will play the match, provided he is fit and not injured at the time.
