BKSP dominates junior athletics

The curtain has been raised on the last National Junior (age-based) Athletics Competition, a gathering of the country's future athletes. Two new national records were set on the first day of the three-day event that began at the National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday. At the same time, the fastest athletes in four categories were determined. At the end of the day, Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Ortoga (BKSP) topped the medal list.
BKSP's Zahidul Islam won the title of the fastest boy in the 100-meter sprint in the boys' category with a time of 11.03 seconds. Rafia Khatun of the same institution became the fastest in the girls' category with a time of 13.06 seconds. BKSP's dominance continued in the junior category as well. Rifat Sheikh became the fastest junior with a time of 11.03 seconds. Bangladesh Ansar and VDP's Sabina Akter Ruby achieved the glory of being the fastest in the 100-meter sprint in the girls' category with a time of 12.40 seconds.
Two national records were broken today. In the boys' discus throw, BKSP's Sayed Mushfiq Hossain set a new national record by throwing 39.58 meters. He broke the record of 38.22 meters set by Pabna District Sports Association Md. Masum Ahmed in 2019.
On the other hand, Khadija Khamon of Narail District Sports Association set a new national record in the girls' 1500 meters with a time of 5 minutes 12.70 seconds. Earlier, Smriti Akhter of Kishoreganj District Sports Association held this record with a time of 5 minutes 15.03 seconds in 2024.
BKSP topped the list by winning 18 medals including 10 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze on the first day. Bangladesh Ansar and VDP are in second place with 7 medals including 1 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze. Rajshahi District Sports Association is in third place with two medals including 1 gold and 1 bronze.
