Argentina have suffered a major setback before the start of their World Cup title defence. Coach Lionel Scaloni has expressed serious concerns about the fitness of several of the team's players. After a 2-0 win over Honduras, Scaloni said that there could be more changes to the final squad for the World Cup.

Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi has already been ruled out of the World Cup due to injury. He was dropped from the team after suffering an injury in training. However, Scaloni has indicated that not only a replacement defender for Balerdi will be needed, but other positions in the team may also have to be changed.

Scaloni said that who will replace him in the squad has not yet been finalized. However, he advised fans not to panic. Argentina will have one more match to assess the situation. The team management will make a final decision on the injured players by next Tuesday.

Argentina is in Group J of the upcoming 2026 World Cup, where they face Algeria, Austria, and Jordan. The Albiceleste will begin their mission to win the world cup with a match against Algeria.
