When Eid approaches, many people head to their village homes to spend time with their loved ones. Many also visit various tourist destinations outside Dhaka during the holidays. However, this joyful trip is often spoiled when they suddenly fall ill.
Some people have stomach problems while traveling, some have colds and coughs, and many suffer from problems like nausea or dizziness.
According to health experts, during travel, the immune system can temporarily decrease due to changes in the environment, irregular sleep, unhealthy food intake, or excessive stress on the body. As a result, the risk of various physical problems increases. However, if you follow some precautions, it is possible to reduce the risk of these problems to a great extent. Let's find out what health problems are more common during travel.
Traveler's diarrhea
Many people suffer from diarrhea during travel due to consuming unclean or contaminated food and water. Unhealthy food in new places is one of the causes of this problem.
Respiratory tract infections
Long trips, overcrowding, or the dry environment of airplanes can cause problems like colds, coughs, or sore throats. Not getting enough sleep also weakens your immune system.
Motion sickness
Many people may feel nauseous, dizzy, or uncomfortable during long bus or boat trips. Eating irregularly or not drinking enough water can also increase this problem.
Jet lag
Traveling across multiple time zones disrupts the body's natural sleep schedule. This can lead to sleep problems, irritability, or digestive upset.
Dehydration
Many people do not drink enough water during long trips. This can lead to headaches, weakness, and fatigue.
Let's learn some ways to stay healthy while traveling-
Keep your hands clean
It is important to wash your hands regularly with soap and use hand sanitizer if necessary.
Eat safe food and water
It is safe to eat well-cooked food and drink bottled or purified water.
Drink enough water
Drinking small amounts of water frequently during long journeys will keep your body hydrated.
Try to maintain a regular sleep schedule
If you gradually change your sleep habits according to the time of your destination, your body can adapt faster.
All in all, travel is for pleasure—not for getting sick. So a little awareness and some good habits can make travel more comfortable. May your Eid journey be safe, enjoyable, and a companion of health.
