A special musical event ‘Songs of Bengal: Pran Bandher Sone’ was held to celebrate World Music Day and showcase the rich folk music heritage of Bengal to the new generation. MW Magazine Bangladesh and Square Toiletries Limited’s natural wellness brand ‘Maya’ jointly organized this lively evening.

This year’s festival, held at the Aloki Convention Center in the capital on Friday (June 12), was dedicated to one of the greatest mystic poets and lyricists of Bengal, Dewan Hashan Raja Chowdhury, whose creations have resonated in the hearts of the people of Bengal for more than a century.

The main attraction of the event was the music direction and curation of popular musician, composer and music director Shayan Chowdhury Arnab. With his unique artistic vision and modern musical arrangement, Hason Raja's timeless songs of love, detachment and spiritual philosophy are performed in a new atmosphere, which creates a unique musical feeling among the audience.

Through a wonderful blend of melody, philosophy and emotion, Hason Raja's haor culture, folk philosophy and the mystical life of searching for the 'man of the heart' are presented in a new way to the contemporary audience through music and storytelling.

Rumana Chowdhury, Editor and Publisher of MW Magazine Bangladesh, delivered the welcome speech at the event. She highlighted the importance of meaningfully conveying cultural heritage to the new generation and mentioned MW's continuous initiatives in connecting art, literature, music and culture with the contemporary audience.

At the time, she said that since its inception, MW believes that culture is not only a matter of preserving it in its original form; but also a matter of interpreting, experiencing and conveying it to the new generation in a new way. This event is an expression of that belief.

He further said that MW’s cultural initiatives have always strived to create a space where literature, music, art and heritage can meaningfully connect with contemporary audiences. At the same time, he expressed gratitude to Anjan Chowdhury, Managing Director of Square Toiletries Limited, for his continued support for cultural and creative initiatives.
