Trump releases map showing Strait of Hormuz as ’US territory’

US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is US territory. He also shared a related picture on his social media platform Truth Social. Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera reported this information in a report on Sunday (August 23).

The picture shows a map of the Middle East. The Strait of Hormuz is marked with a circle. The picture was written above it - 'New US Territory', that is, 'New territory of the United States'.

This is the second time in the past week that Trump has shared the same picture. However, this time he did not write any caption or comment with the picture. A day earlier, Trump said at a rally in South Carolina, 'I now see the Strait of Hormuz as American territory.'

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important waterways in the world. A large part of the Middle East's oil transportation depends on this strait.
