Patients should receive proper treatment without harassment: State Minister Nur

State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur said that medical services are a fundamental right. The issue of patients receiving proper treatment without harassment will be taken seriously.
He said these things while visiting Patuakhali Medical College Hospital at 11 am on Thursday.
Recently, after being nominated as the president of the hospital's board of directors, State Minister Nurul Haque Nur visited various departments for the first time and supervised the overall activities.
At that time, he said that discussions will be held with the concerned ministries to develop the hospital's infrastructure, supply necessary equipment and resolve the doctor-nurse crisis.
On May 5, as per the decision of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Nurul Haque Nur was nominated as the president of the board of directors of Patuakhali Medical College and Hospital. Immediately after assuming office, he observed the existing problems of the hospital, the quality of medical services and the facilities and services provided to patients.
During the visit, he visited various units of the hospital including the emergency department, medicine ward, surgery ward, children's department, outpatient department. During this time, he also spoke to patients and relatives who came to the hospital for medical services. He heard complaints from patients about various limitations of medical services, medicine shortage, bed shortage and manpower shortage.
Later, in a view-sharing meeting organized in the hospital's meeting room, Nurul Haque Nur discussed the problems and prospects of the hospital with doctors, nurses and administrative officials. He said that it should be ensured that the common people of Patuakhali do not go to Dhaka but get better medical services in their own districts. All necessary initiatives will be taken to improve the quality of hospital services.
During the visit, the doctors of the hospital highlighted various problems. They said that due to manpower shortage, lack of modern medical equipment and the number of beds is less than the number of patients, it is often difficult to provide the desired services.
After the visit, Nurul Haque Nur gave necessary instructions to the concerned officials to make the overall activities of the hospital more dynamic. At the same time, he emphasized ensuring sincerity and accountability in patient service.
