Hundreds of students take to the streets in India, protest in fighter jets and tanks

A huge commotion and protests have erupted on the campus of Lovely Professional University in Punjab over allegations of rape of a student. 

Hundreds of students gathered on the campus in the early hours of Sunday (September 27) and caused widespread vandalism. The situation became so intense that angry students were seen protesting by riding on a MiG-23 fighter jet and a military tank that were on display on the campus.

The students claimed that on September 24, a student was tortured by an outsider inside the campus and no redress was received even after informing the warden. After this news spread, the students blocked the Jalandhar National Highway in Phagwara and vandalized windows and several shops inside the campus.

Meanwhile, the university authorities have completely denied the allegations, saying that completely false and fabricated rumors are being spread on social media.

Upon receiving the news of the incident, police and senior officials quickly reached the campus and brought the situation under control. Police said that a case has been registered against an unidentified person based on the complaint of the victim student and a special team has been formed to investigate the matter. Currently, the situation is under control of the police.
