Imran Khan’s three sisters arrested one by one

Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, two other sisters of former Pakistani Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, have been detained for 30 days. They were detained on Monday (September 21) ahead of PTI's nationwide protest and march to Islamabad on September 27.

A day earlier, the Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) had also ordered the detention or arrest of Imran's other sister, Aleema Khan, for 30 days.

According to a report in Pakistani media outlet The Dawn, an order dated September 20 ordered the detention of Uzma and Noreen for 30 days under the Punjab Public Order Ordinance, 1960. The order stated that they were "prejudicial to public safety and public order."

According to the order, they will be kept under the superintendent of Kot Lakhpat Central Jail in Lahore.

The order of the Lahore DC office alleged that Uzma and Noreen were involved in the May 9, 2023 protests and encouraged activists to damage government and public property. They were also accused of trying to disrupt the law and order situation by organizing activists again on social media and public meetings.

The order mentions that there are multiple cases against them in this incident, including case number 96/23 of Race Course Police Station.

The decision to detain Uzma and Noreen was taken at a meeting held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Lahore DC Muhammad Ali Ijaz. The order said that the members approved the evidence presented by the police in the meeting.

Meanwhile, PTI's Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram alleged on social media X early Monday that Imran's two sisters were detained along with their children and Aleema Khan's sons and taken to an unknown location in an armored vehicle.

PTI lawyer Awais Yunus Chowdhury also claimed that all three of Imran's sisters have been detained.

In a post on PTI, it condemned the incident as "brazen abuse of power, violation of fundamental rights and political oppression."

Imran's son Qasim Khan also alleged that Uzma and Noreen were "kidnapped". He claimed that authorities entered the house of his aunt and cousins ​​and took them away in a car without any explanation.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar Ali Khan also condemned the detention, saying that the country needs to end political tensions, not new conflicts. He also commented that the arrest of party MPs and family members will further escalate the situation.

Earlier on Sunday, another sister of Imran, Aleema Khan, was ordered to be detained or arrested under the same law. In that order dated September 20, the Lahore DC also ordered the detention of a person named Muhammad Amir along with Aleema.

Alimah's sister Noreen later claimed at a press conference in Lahore that Alimah was picked up along with her driver after she left her home on Saturday. They later learned that Alimah's car had been kept at a police station.

Police sources told Dawn that Aleema has been taken to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
