US President Donald Trump has announced that the US naval blockade imposed on Iranian ports will be lifted and the Strait of Hormuz will be opened to shipping in both directions.
In a post on his social media account Truth Social on Friday (May 29), the US President outlined several conditions for a possible US-Iran deal.
According to Trump's conditions, Iran must promise never to develop nuclear weapons. In addition, the Strait of Hormuz must be free to ship traffic in both directions without any tolls.
Trump said that if there are any mines in the strait, they must also be removed quickly. He also claimed that US forces have already destroyed many mines by detonating them.
The US President also said that the US naval blockade imposed on Iranian ports will be lifted soon and the ships currently stuck will be able to return to their respective destinations.
He claimed that the United States, with the cooperation of the International Atomic Energy Agency, will recover and destroy Iran's underground uranium, which was damaged by a US B-2 bomber strike about 11 months ago.
