Republican Congressman Thomas Massie has alleged that the United States has been significantly weakened, both militarily and economically, by engaging in a conflict with Iran. He claims that the Trump administration's decisions have had a negative impact on the country's defense capabilities, economy, and internal stability.
In a post on social media, Massie wrote, "The United States has been significantly weakened by the war with Iran."
He alleged that the conflict has reduced the United States' missile defense capabilities, depleted fuel reserves, killed military personnel, increased consumer prices, and further increased the national debt.
According to Massie, "This administration has exhausted our missile defense system, reduced oil reserves, pushed our servicemen and women to the brink of death, raised consumer prices, increased debt, and ignored the country's domestic needs—all for Israel. It's all their fault.'
The Republican lawmaker's comments are being seen as a public criticism of the Trump administration's Iran policy. He has previously objected to US military intervention abroad and spending on international conflicts.
However, there was no immediate response from the Trump administration to Massey's allegations.
