No $40 Ticket Needed: NYC Opens Free 580-Foot Observation Deck
Published: 09:34 PM, 8 July 2026
New York City residents and visitors can now enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city-without paying the $40 or more typically charged at many observation decks.
The City has officially opened Centre 360, a new public observation experience located atop the historic David N. Dinkins Municipal Building in Lower Manhattan. Standing approximately 580 feet above street level, the site offers sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline, Brooklyn Bridge, One World Trade Center, the East River, and beyond.
Unlike popular attractions such as Edge, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, Top of the Rock, or One World Observatory, admission to Centre 360 is completely free. However, visitors must reserve tickets online in advance, as entry is offered through scheduled guided tours with limited capacity.
City officials say the new attraction is designed to give the public access to one of New York City’s most iconic municipal buildings while showcasing its architectural history and spectacular skyline views.
The observation area sits inside the building’s landmark copper cupola, which has undergone extensive restoration before opening to the public for the first time.
Officials encourage anyone planning to visit to book early, as demand is expected to be high and tour slots are limited.
The opening of Centre 360 provides New Yorkers and tourists with a rare opportunity to experience one of the city’s highest public viewpoints- at no cost.
Reservation is required before visiting. Reservations open on the first day of each month, with the next available viewing dates released at that time. Centre 360 will officially open to the public on June 11, 2026, offering visitors a free opportunity to enjoy one of the city’s newest skyline experience.
