NYC Summer Streets wraps up with final events in Brooklyn, Bronx

NEW YORK (WABC) -- New York City's Summer Streets program comes to a close Saturday with one final day of car-free streets, outdoor activities and entertainment in Brooklyn and the Bronx.

The final events of the season run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving New Yorkers more space to walk, bike, run and enjoy activities along major stretches of Eastern Parkway and the Grand Concourse.

In Brooklyn, Summer Streets will take over Eastern Parkway from Grand Army Plaza to Buffalo Avenue, connecting Prospect Heights and Brownsville along the same route used for the annual Caribbean Day Parade.

In the Bronx, the event will run along the Grand Concourse from East Tremont Avenue to Mosholu Parkway, creating a major car-free corridor through the borough.

The streets will be opened to pedestrians and cyclists, with space for family activities, outdoor fitness, art and music.

This year's Summer Streets events have opened more than 20 miles of streets across all five boroughs to walking, biking, running and other community activities.

The program also features public art, including "Big Spinning Wheels" by Josh Cohen, a series of kinetic sculptures displayed in Brooklyn, the Bronx and other boroughs.Saturday marks the final Summer Streets event of the 2026 season.
