Amidst the discussion about the 'resignation' of President Md. Sahabuddin, National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan has now expressed his reaction on the issue.

In a post on social media Facebook on Thursday (July 23), he said that President Md. Sahabuddin is finally being 'removed', which is good news.

In the post, he wrote, 'The issue of the President should have been resolved politically long ago. Although BNP was warned repeatedly, the issue did not receive due importance. If timely initiatives were taken, there would not have been so much discussion and criticism today. He is finally being 'removed', which is good news.'

It is worth noting that Md. Sahabuddin was sworn in as the 22nd President of Bangladesh on April 24, 2023. He was elected unopposed on the nomination of the Awami League. According to the constitution, his five-year term is scheduled to end in April 2028.

After the fall of the Awami League government through a student uprising on August 5, 2024, the political situation in the country changed dramatically. At that time, fascist Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country. Later, Md. Shahabuddin served as President in important political processes, including the dissolution of parliament and the formation of an interim government.
