Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a meeting with the members of parliament from the government's reserved women's constituency. The meeting was held at the Public Administration Meeting Room of the Cabinet Division at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday afternoon.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of determining a strategy to work for the people by increasing the parliamentary responsibilities and public involvement of women members of parliament.
At the same time, it was advised to make proper preparations for the session of the National Parliament, and to regularly study and review parliamentary activities to provide information-based speeches to the members of parliament.
In addition, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also instructed to strengthen development activities in the area in coordination with the elected representatives of the relevant constituencies of the government party. At least four women members of parliament who participated in the meeting confirmed this information to Jugantor.
They said that this was their first meeting with the Prime Minister after taking oath from the reserved women's constituency. The Head of Government discussed in detail their responsibilities, duties and the scope of power of the reserved constituency in the meeting.
It has been suggested to give constructive and informative speeches in the parliament. For this, the ruling party BNP will train the members of the reserved women's seats before the next parliament session.
In addition, in the constituencies where there are Jamaat members of parliament, the women members of parliament concerned will be involved in development work in the area like elected MPs.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was accompanied by Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Prime Minister's Advisor Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
In the first meeting of the Prime Minister, instructions were given to play an active role in implementing the government's development plan, said Selima Rahman, a member of the BNP Standing Committee and a member of the parliament for the reserved women's seat.
She said that the meeting was mainly held with the aim of paying a courtesy call on the Prime Minister and expressing gratitude. During this time, the members of the reserved women's seat discussed various issues regarding their responsibilities, scope of work and future activities. Since the members of the reserved seats do not have a specific area, the Prime Minister gave directions on how to work in which area. They will work according to those instructions in the future.
Selima Rahman said that as a political leader and member of parliament, the main responsibility is to work for the welfare of the people. At the same time, the Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of keeping the country and the party united.
