Ronaldo kisses the Saudi Arabian flag

Cristiano Ronaldo surprised Al Nasr fans after their win over Neftchi. The Portuguese captain did something that caught everyone's attention. He clearly showed his love for Saudi Arabia, while it was devastated by the Houthi attack. 

Al Nasr won 3-1 in the second round of the AFC Champions League Elite on Monday evening. Ronaldo scored the second goal in the 42nd minute. Earlier, Angelo had given the team the lead. In the second half, Neftchi defender Buyan Sig's own goal increased the gap even further.

The match was marred by some complications before it even started. Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense issued a security alert 15 minutes before kick-off in Riyadh, delaying the start of the game. Several locations in Riyadh have recently been targeted by missile attacks launched by the Yemen-based Houthis.

When the game was stopped, Ronaldo was seen on camera kissing the Saudi flag on his Al Nasr jersey. The scene shows his gratitude to the country since coming to play in Saudi Arabia. He made this point in another way after the match.

In the midst of the celebration, Ronaldo asked the fans for a scarf. The scarf had the Saudi flag on it. He wrapped it around his shoulders. This act gave his celebration a different dimension in the current regional situation. 

Al Nasr's next match is on October 16. They will face Al Ahly in the Saudi Pro League.
