US President Donald Trump has said he has no regrets about the way the Iran conflict has been handled.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump said, "I don't believe in the word 'regret.'"

"You might be able to do a little self-reflection," he said, "but if I had to do it again, I would do it exactly the same way. I destroyed their nuclear capability."

The war that began with the United States and Israel in February did not target Iran's nuclear sites, but Trump has claimed that the US strike the previous year had completely destroyed Iran's nuclear program.

Trump also dismissed the idea that some of his supporters were disheartened and discouraged by the war. "I don't think they're discouraged," he said. "I think they're very proud of the fact that I'm not letting Iran get a nuclear weapon."

Trump reiterated that the war would end immediately after or before the midterm elections.
