How many runs can you score from a single ball? A six if you clear the boundary, four if the ball touches the rope. If it’s a no-ball, you get an extra run. But running 6 runs between the wickets—such a thing had never been seen before.

Yet that’s exactly what happened in a recent match. It’s not confirmed where or between which teams this took place, though it seems to have happened in an English domestic cricket game.

A video of the incident recently went viral on social media. In it, two batters can be seen changing ends 6 times, completing 6 runs by running. Despite four attempts at run-outs, the fielding side failed to dismiss either batter.

The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by English umpire Richard Kettleborough. Posting it on August 18, 2025, at 8:35 a.m., he commented that this was the first-ever instance in cricket history (a record).

The clip went viral almost instantly. Within 12 hours, it had been viewed 643,400 times.
