English club Chelsea dominated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) with a convincing 3-0 win in the final of the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup, held at MetLife Stadium in front of a crowd of over 81,000, including U.S. President Donald Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

Cole Palmer was the star of the night, scoring two goals in the 22nd and 30th minutes and assisting Joao Pedro for the third in the 43rd. All three goals came in a first-half blitz that stunned the European champions.

Palmer, 23, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City two years ago, now has 18 goals this season and was named Player of the Match.

“It’s a great feeling. Even better because everyone doubted us,” said Palmer after the match.

PSG Collapse and Finish with 10 Men
PSG’s troubles worsened when Joao Neves was sent off in the 84th minute for pulling Marc Cucurella by the hair. Tensions flared late in the match, with PSG coach Luis Enrique and goalkeeper Donnarumma confronting Pedro at midfield.

PSG had hoped to complete a quadruple this season, having already won Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and their first-ever Champions League title. They had outscored opponents 16–1 before this final, but couldn’t handle Chelsea’s intensity.

This was Chelsea’s second Club World Cup title, the first being in 2021. Despite finishing 4th in the Premier League and winning the UEFA Conference League, Chelsea earned between $128 million and $154 million in prize money, depending on FIFA’s undisclosed participation fees.

How the Goals Happened

  • 22nd Minute: A defensive error by PSG’s Nuno Mendes led to a blocked shot falling to Palmer, who broke PSG’s 436-minute clean sheet streak.
  • 30th Minute: Palmer scored again after a long pass from Levi Colwill, cutting inside to finish clinically.
  • 43rd Minute: Palmer sent a through ball to Joao Pedro, who chipped it over Donnarumma to seal the game.

Chelsea now head into the 2025–26 season confident they can challenge Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal for the Premier League title.
