U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Attorney General Pam Bondi should release "whatever she thinks is credible" regarding the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, amid backlash from some of Trump’s supporters over the handling of the case.

Bondi recently faced criticism after her department claimed there was no client list tied to Epstein—contradicting earlier remarks by her and others in Trump’s political circle.

Trump, defending Bondi, said: “She’s handled it very well... Whatever she thinks is credible, she should release.”

He also downplayed interest in the case, calling it “sordid but boring” and said only “bad people and fake news” want to keep discussing it.

Trump added that Bondi had not told him whether his name appeared in any Epstein-related records.

Background on the Epstein Case

  • Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.
  • Conspiracy theories persist, despite officials confirming suicide and no evidence of a client list or blackmail materials.
  • A recent DOJ-FBI memo stated that over 300 GB of data was reviewed, and no “incriminating list” or evidence of high-profile blackmail was found.
  • Trump previously promised to release Epstein files during his campaign.

Tensions Within the Republican Base

  • Some Trump allies, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, are demanding more transparency.
  • Senator John Kennedy said the public deserves to know who Epstein trafficked women to and why they weren’t prosecuted.
  • Others, like Senator John Thune and Jim Jordan, are backing Trump’s stance.

Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law, also called for transparency.

Despite the pressure, Pam Bondi has refused to answer further questions, saying the DOJ-FBI memo “speaks for itself.”

Meanwhile, Democrats in Congress tried—unsuccessfully—to force a vote to declassify Epstein documents, pointing out that President Biden’s administration also had access but didn’t release them.
