Bangladesh Bounce Back with Big Win Over Sri Lanka

After a disappointing start to the T20I series in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh made a strong comeback with a massive 83-run win, leveling the three-match series 1-1.
Earlier in the tour, Bangladesh had lost the ODI series 2-1 after a similar pattern: losing the first match, winning the second, but falling short in the decider. The T20I series followed the same trajectory — a loss in the opening game put Bangladesh under pressure heading into the second match in Dambulla.
Batting first after losing the toss, Bangladesh got off to a shaky start, losing both openers for just 7 runs in 2 overs. However, Litton Das anchored the innings with a brilliant 76 off 50 balls (1 four, 5 sixes). He built two key partnerships:
A 69-run stand (55 balls) with Towhid Hridoy
A 77-run stand (39 balls) with Shamim Hossain Patwary
Shamim scored a quickfire 48 off 27 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes), while Hridoy added 31 from 25 deliveries. Bangladesh ended on a challenging total of 177/7 in their 20 overs.
In response, Sri Lanka crumbled under pressure. Despite being confident, they lost wickets regularly and were bowled out for just 94 runs in 15.2 overs.
- Pathum Nissanka top-scored with 32
- Dasun Shanaka added 20
Bangladeshi bowlers — Rishad Hossain, Shoriful Islam, and Mohammad Saifuddin — bowled with discipline to seal a dominant win.
The third and final T20I will now serve as a decider — just like in the ODIs — with the series currently tied at 1-1.
