Eid al-Adha is one of the main religious festivals of Muslims. On this day, animals are sacrificed for the sake of Allah. However, sacrifice is not limited to slaughtering animals, it involves proper planning, cleanliness, safety and responsible preparation.
Many times, various problems arise during sacrifice due to lack of necessary equipment or proper management. Therefore, if the necessary things are prepared in advance, the entire process can be completed easily and in an orderly manner.
Preparations required before animal sacrifice
It is important to select a clean and designated place before sacrifice. In addition, adequate water supply, waste disposal facilities and necessary equipment should be prepared in advance. Planning is even more important, especially in urban areas, due to limited space.
Main equipment required for sacrifice
Sharp knife and fork:
A sharp knife is the most important during sacrifice. A blunt knife not only increases the suffering of the animal, but also makes the work difficult. Therefore, it is necessary to sharpen the knife and keep it ready in advance.
Ropes and tying materials:
Strong ropes are needed to safely restrain the animal. This reduces the risk of accidents.
Large polythene or burlap:
Polythene or burlap can be spread on the ground to keep the slaughter area clean, making it easier to clean.
Large pots and buckets:
Large pots and buckets are useful to keep blood, water, and meat separate.
Soap and clean water for washing hands:
It is important to keep soap and clean water close at hand to maintain cleanliness.
Personal protective equipment
For safety, rubber gloves, aprons or old clothes, masks, and rubber boots or closed shoes should be used. These help reduce the risk of infection and accidents.
Meat cutting and storage equipment
It is also important to store meat properly after slaughter. For this, it is necessary to have a large cutting board, separate knife, plastic bags or containers, and ice or freezing facilities.
Waste Management
If blood, bones and other waste are not disposed of properly, it can cause environmental pollution and health risks. Therefore, hard waste bags, designated dustbins or pits and disinfectants should be used.
First Aid Kit
To avoid unexpected accidents, it is a good idea to keep a first aid kit with bandages, antiseptic, cotton and painkiller ointments on hand.
Water and Hydration Management
As the physical exertion during Qurbani is high, it can be beneficial to have adequate water, saline or lemon juice available.
Qurbani is not only a religious obligation, it is also an exercise in discipline and awareness. Proper preparation in advance can make the entire event easier, cleaner and more peaceful.
