Today is World Mother's Day. Every year, the day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May in different countries of the world. This day is special to express love, respect and gratitude to mothers. Apart from various arrangements, people express their love for mothers on this day through gifts, greetings and posts on social media.

The history of MA Day is quite old. In ancient Greece, there was a tradition of celebrating festivals in honor of the mother of the gods 'Rhea'. Later, a day called 'Mothering Sunday' began to be celebrated among Christians in Europe. However, the idea of modern Mother's Day is most popular in the United States.

Anna Jarvis played an important role in the introduction of Mother's Day, which is currently celebrated worldwide. She celebrated the first official Mother's Day in West Virginia, USA, in 1908 to honor the memory of her mother. Her mother, Anne Marie Reeves Jarvis, was involved in Jarvis's social service work and worked in the service of wounded soldiers during the war.

Anna Jarvis wanted a special day to honor the contributions of mothers. After her long efforts, in 1914, the then US President Woodrow Wilson officially declared the second Sunday of May as 'Mother's Day'. After that, the day gradually spread to different countries of the world.

The day has also become quite popular in Bangladesh. Many people give flowers, cards or small gifts to their mothers on this day to remember their mothers' contributions to the family. Some spend time with their mothers or share memories on social media.

However, it should be remembered that just one specific day is not enough to express love for mothers. Mothers should be respected and cared for every day of the year. Still, Mother's Day reminds people of their mothers' contributions anew and helps to deepen the relationship.
