New Video Emerges in Cumilla Incident, Victim Wants to Withdraw Case

A new twist has emerged in the widely discussed rape case in Muradnagar, Comilla, as a new video related to the incident has gone viral. Meanwhile, the woman involved now wants to withdraw the case. She claims she filed it without fully understanding the implications and without consulting her family.

Speaking to the media, the woman said, "I filed the case against Fazor Ali without fully understanding the situation. I didn’t consult my family or the community. Now I’m facing pressure from my husband and relatives. They don’t want to pursue the case. I just want to live in peace with my children. I don’t like legal battles. I will withdraw the case."

Viral Video Raises Alarming Questions
In the latest viral video shared from a Facebook account named ‘Toder Bap Aichhe’ (Your father is here), Fazor Ali — the accused — is seen being brutally tortured. The assault was allegedly led by Muhammad Ali Sumon, the president of the local Chhatra League (the student wing of the ruling party), along with a group of 15 to 20 people, including Ramzan, Onik, and Arif.

The video shows Fazor Ali tied up, stripped, and bleeding from his head and limbs due to the violent beating. Onik is also seen stripping the woman and tying her up next to Fazor Ali as part of a coordinated plan to record the scene.

The woman again said, “I filed the case against Fazor Ali without understanding. Now, under pressure from my husband and family, I want to withdraw the case. I want to live peacefully with my children. I don’t want to be involved in court matters anymore.”

Background of the Incident
The incident occurred on the night of June 26 in Baheerchar village of Ramchandrapur South Union in Muradnagar Upazila. While locals claimed it was an extramarital affair, the woman stated that she had a financial relationship with Fazor Ali.

So far, the police have arrested five people in connection with two separate cases.

Allegations of Orchestrated Setup
Local UP Chairman Golam Kibria Khokon stated, “There was indeed an extramarital relationship between the woman and Fazor Ali. Two months ago, Fazor Ali’s younger brother Shahporan even posted a Facebook status about it. Everyone in the area knew about the affair. Fazor Ali used to visit that house regularly due to his financial dealings with the family.”

He also blamed banned Chhatra League leader Sumon for masterminding the incident:

“Sumon and his group lay in wait and caught them deliberately. Then they planned the stripping and torture and made the videos viral on social media.”

He suggested the group may have had other motives behind their actions.

Mixed Reactions in the Community
Former UP member Abdur Rouf called Fazor Ali a “bad character” known for harassing women.

“Everyone in the area knew about his long-standing affair with the woman.”

Local resident Piyara Begum also said, “They had been in a relationship for four years. Sumon, Ramzan, and Onik were lying in wait that night to catch them red-handed.”

Police Response
When contacted Monday morning, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidur Rahman of Muradnagar Police Station said,

“We haven’t seen any new video yet. But we’re actively working on the case. Senior officers are overseeing further investigation. If we receive new footage, we’ll examine it thoroughly and take legal action against those involved in spreading it.”
