Iran threatens to completely close the Strait of Hormuz

Amid heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf, Iran has launched a series of ballistic missile attacks on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
After Iran's long-range missile attacks, Tehran warned that any further provocation or aggression would result in the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's main routes for oil and gas exports. Iran's state-run Mehr News Agency confirmed the news on Saturday (June 6).
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement that its Aerospace Force carried out this powerful missile attack targeting the US air base 'Ali al-Salem' in Kuwait and the main facilities of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet headquarters deployed in Bahrain.
The direct confrontation between Iran and the US forces began over a dispute over the unauthorized passage of an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran launched the retaliatory attack after US drones attacked two IRGC communication towers located on Qishmi Island and Sirik in the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC has released a detailed account of the attack. It says that at 1:30 am, four oil tankers were trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without any coordination with the IRGC Navy and completely ignoring their warnings.
After a final warning from the Iranian Navy, one tanker was hit and its speed was stopped, and the other three ships were forced to turn back. Exactly half an hour after this incident, at around 2 am, US drones launched a surprise airstrike on two important Iranian communication towers located on Qishmi Island and Sirik.
In response to the US attack, the IRGC fired missiles at US military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain. In a strong statement, the Revolutionary Guards said that if such aggressive behavior is repeated, Iran will respond with a bigger and unlimited response. At the same time, they warned the US-Israeli alliance that if the Strait of Hormuz is completely closed for oil and gas exports, the alliance will bear full responsibility for the serious disaster that will befall the global economy. International military analysts fear that a new major war will break out in the Middle East after this attack.
