‘Kaanta Laga’ girl Shefali Jariwala passes away at 42

In a shocking turn of events, Indian actress and model, Shefali Jariwala, who rose to fame in the early 2000s after featuring in the chartbusting remix, 'Kaanta Laga', has reportedly passed away. 

The reality TV star, who was also part of the hit show Bigg Boss season 13, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 42.

According to a report by The Times of India, Shefali suffered a cardiac arrest late on Friday night and was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, along with three others. However, she was declared dead on arrival.

Hospital staff confirmed the tragic development, saying, “Shefali had expired before she was brought in. Her husband and a few others accompanied the body.”

Prominent entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani also reported on the incident through his official Instagram, confirming that Shefali was brought to the hospital around 11:25pm on June 27. He quoted hospital staff and doctors, who confirmed her death but did not reveal specific details. 

Dr. Vijay Lulla, a cardiologist at the hospital, declined to comment, citing patient confidentiality. Meanwhile, another doctor from the hospital, Dr. Sushant, confirmed that Shefali’s body was being sent to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

While early reports suggest cardiac arrest as the possible cause of death, an official confirmation is still awaited. Neither her family nor her representatives have issued a formal statement.

A star who shone bright
Shefali Jariwala shot to fame in 2002 with the chart-topping music video 'Kaanta Laga', which earned her nationwide recognition and the nickname “Kaanta Laga Girl.” Her glamorous screen presence and bold performance in the remix left an indelible mark on Indian pop culture.

Following her initial success, Shefali appeared in Bollywood films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and later participated in several reality shows, including Nach Baliye and Bigg Boss 13, where she won hearts with her composed and dignified persona.

She is survived by her husband Parag Tyagi, a television actor known for his roles in popular Hindi dramas.
