U.S. President Donald Trump has now referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “good man.” This comes after the two leaders had previously engaged in a heated verbal exchange in the Oval Office earlier this year.

Trump announced that he would meet Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit to discuss the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the recent developments in the war.

“We’ll discuss the usual matters. We’ll talk about his problems,” Trump told reporters.

He also expressed respect for the Ukrainian president, saying that although there had been some misunderstandings between them in the past, he still respected Zelensky.

Notably, the two were scheduled to meet earlier this month during the G7 Summit in Canada, but the meeting was canceled as Trump had to return to the White House urgently due to the escalating Israel-Iran conflict.

The upcoming meeting is expected to include important discussions on the Ukraine war, military assistance, and tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Trump has already stated that he wants to find a “comprehensive and effective solution” to the Ukraine issue.

Background:
On February 28, Trump and Zelensky had a tense meeting in the Oval Office, which reportedly escalated into shouting. Trump told Zelensky, “You’re losing the war. People are dying. Your troops are running low. You have no cards left to play.”

During the three-year war with Russia, Ukraine received billions of dollars in weapons and financial aid from former President Joe Biden’s administration. However, since Trump took office on January 20, the situation has changed dramatically. Trump has criticized Zelensky repeatedly, even blaming him for prolonging the war.
