West Indies Can’t Shake Off Nightmare

After a whitewash in the ODIs, the West Indies wrapped up their disastrous England tour with another whitewash — this time in the T20 series. On Tuesday night in Southampton, England defeated the visitors by 37 runs in the third and final T20I.
This marks the first time in almost four years that England have swept a T20 series 3-0 against any team. They had already won the ODI series by the same margin earlier in the tour.
With a 6-0 clean sweep across formats, Harry Brook begins his tenure as England’s new white-ball captain on a perfect note. The hero of the final match was Ben Duckett, who smashed a brutal 84 off 46 balls as an opener.
Fellow opener Jamie Smith added an explosive 60 off 26 balls, and their 120-run opening stand laid the foundation for a massive total. Later, Jacob Bethell (36* off 16) and Brook (35* off 22) added finishing touches as England piled up 248/3, their highest T20I score against West Indies.
In reply, Rovman Powell fought hard with an unbeaten 79 off 45 balls, but it wasn’t enough. West Indies could only manage 211/8, falling 37 runs short.
With this, the tour ends as a complete nightmare for West Indies — thoroughly outplayed in both white-ball formats.
